Q. Why is Black Porcelain special?

A: Black Porcelain is especially valued by doll collectors because of its relative rarity. The clay itself is colored and less readily available. The black porcelain is more fragile in the kiln and many more pieces are lost in firing. Therefore, the end product is far more costly to produce.
